Two new languages: Galaxy AI adds Gujarati and Filipino, supporting 22 languages

 Smarter communication and productivity: Features such as Live Translate, Interpreter, Chat Assist and Note Assist help users communicate and stay productive wherever they are.

Reaching more users: Galaxy AI continues to grow rapidly and is on track to surpass 400 million devices by the end of 2025.

SEOUL, Korea – October 30, 2025 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the expansion of two new languages for Galaxy AI: Filipino and Gujarati. Filipino is used daily by an estimated 87 million people, while Gujarati is spoken by an estimated 62.5 million people[1].


With this new update, Galaxy AI will support a total of 22[2] languages, now accounting for languages spoken by nearly 74%[3] of the global population/5.9 billion people across the globe. This strengthens Samsung’s ongoing commitment to lowering language barriers and bringing meaningful mobile AI experiences to more people.

What is Samsung Galaxy AI

Samsung Galaxy AI is a suite of artificial intelligence features integrated into Samsung Galaxy devices. According to the South Korean electronics maker, these features are designed to make everyday tasks more intuitive, efficient, and personalised. For example, its tools like live translation and chat assistance improve communications; note summarisation and web browsing improve productivity; and capabilities like AI-powered photo and audio editing adds a new dimension to multimedia editing boosting creativity. The features use a combination of on-device and cloud-based processing.

Samsung Galaxy AI: What’s new

Samsung said the Gujarati and Filipino languages were developed in close collaboration with Samsung Research centres in India and Indonesia. The focus was to make translations sound more natural and reflect local usage. Samsung said that the Galaxy AI now reaches more regions, offering features that make communication and productivity simpler and more intuitive in daily life. These include:

AI features available in new languages

The latest update enables users in more regions to use Galaxy AI’s communication and productivity features in their preferred language.

•Live Translate offers real-time, two-way voice and text translation, allowing conversations to flow naturally across different languages.

•Interpreter provides instant translations of in-person conversations in a split-screen view, useful for travel and everyday interactions.

•Chat Assist adjusts message tone and phrasing to suit different contexts, including professional, casual, or friendly conversations.

•Note Assist generates summaries and pre-formatted templates, helping users stay organized and manage daily tasks efficiently.

•Transcript Assist transcribes, summarizes, and translates voice recordings from meetings, lectures, or creative sessions.

•Browsing Assist condenses news articles and web pages into short summaries for quick reading.

What’s changing

From October 29, users of compatible Galaxy devices can download the new language packs via the Settings menu. With these languages added, Galaxy AI’s suite of features—Live Translate (real-time voice/text translation during calls), Interpreter (face-to-face split-screen translation), Chat Assist, Note Assist, Transcript Assist and Browsing Assist—now reach more speakers around the world.

Bridging Language Barriers

With the addition of Gujarati and Filipino, Galaxy AI expands its global voice to help native speakers access advanced AI features such as Live Translate, Interpreter, Chat Assist, Note Assist, Transcript Assist, and Browsing Assist. The language expansion aligns with Samsung’s vision of making mobile AI more inclusive and empowering users irrespective of their primary language.

Regional Relevance and Collaboration

Samsung developed the Gujarati and Filipino models in partnership with its research centres in India and Indonesia respectively. This collaboration ensured that the language packs reflect natural usage, idioms, and regional nuances—not just literal translations. According to Samsung, Gujarati has over 60 million speakers, while Filipino (Tagalog) is used daily by approximately 87 million people—highlighting the impact of this upgrade in populous regions.
